Mainland Dubai - Bur Dubai
Bur Dubai got its name because it borders Dubai Creek, meaning ‘mainland’. Dubai City starts where this place starts. It is a heavily populated area which does not make the list of must-see places in Dubai.
The area as already mentioned, is very old, but the developments that keep happening make it new. It is a fascinating fusion of the past and the modern world. In the innermost part of the city, there are old residential apartments (known as ‘flats’) and a market. Towards the outskirts, there are several luxurious hotels and shopping malls (also called shopping centers in Dubai). The main attractions of this place include hotels, shopping centers and local marketplace shopping. It is a great place to stay because of its central location. Shopping here becomes fun because the small market vendors will negotiate with you to provide some of the most attractive deals.
Apart from the street market, there are also modern malls or shopping centers if one prefers a more sophisticated shopping style. Some of the popular shopping centers found in this area are: Al Khaleej Centre, Al Rais Centre, Lamcy Plaza, Wafi Plaza, Mazaya Centre, Jumeira Centre, Jumeira Plaza and the famous and oldest Burjuman Centre. Many of these malls are brand new and the older malls are also well maintained. This makes the shopping experience in Dubai simply lovely. Any mall, big or small, seems much better than some of the most impressive malls around the world. No doubt that is why Dubai is the ultimate shopping destination for all. Not only the variety of goods, but they are very good at the facilities and maintenance of all the buildings. Talking about Dubai hotels, most of them are located here in Bur Dubai. Hence, this place becomes a tourist attraction as everything is easily accessible because of its central location.
Most of the places are so close that they can be reached by walking or by a 10-minute taxi ride. One can also find numerous hotels in this area which makes it easier to find a room. Rooms available in this city are cheaper than rooms available in other parts of Dubai. The Grand Hyatt is the most popular hotel here. There are also two Golden Sands hotel franchises here, which attract many tourists.
Bur Dubai is definitely worth visiting and experiencing two or more times in your life, whether it is for its shopping malls, markets, hotels, rich culture, enjoyment, vacation, or for just about any other reason.
