Have You Ever Been to Australia?
Australia is one of the world’s most popular holiday destinations - but why? In addition to the sunshine, the beaches, the food, and the vibrant cities, what else does it have to offer? Safety is one of the main reasons it’s so popular, whether it’s obvious or not. Take a look at how many times the country has witnessed, or been threatened with, terrorist activity. It sits very comfortably at the top, or close to that position, of the world’s safest places to spend a holiday, compared to the UK, USA, Thailand, Malaysia, France, Egypt, Africa and others.
Strangely, a lot of tourists still stay near the major cities when they’re in Australia. Many overseas visitors, who simply want to see as much of Australia as possible in their visit, have been able to visit places like Sydney, Perth, Darwin, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide, because of cheap air travel. Although all these great cities have a lot to offer by way of different experiences and cultures, are their visitors really seeing the real Australia? Australians are so diverse, with mountains for skiing, fertile wine lands, deserts that are unforgiving, aboriginal lands that are millions of years old, and dense tropical rainforests that you can’t really experience from an inter-state plane or a city hotel.
Though 90% of Australia’s population lives in its coastal regions, its interior can still offer luxury of the highest order in some of its most remote spots. Cattle and sheep stations, that once ran tens of thousands of animals on equal amounts of land, now provide luxurious accommodation for visitors, who arrive by plane and helicopter, on their own airstrips. In addition to residing in five-star luxury, eating and drinking food that’s as good as or even better than any five-star hotel, guests can either take part in, or just watch, activities at these stations.
There are lots of places in Australia that attract a lot of visitors outside of the cities. There’s no doubt that the luxury islands of the Great Barrier Reef provide luxury breaks, wedding and honeymoon destinations of the highest standard, with pristine beaches and warm tropical waters. There are 72 islands in the Whitsundays, and thousands of yacht enthusiasts visit each year. Many other well-known parts of Australia are attracting ever-increasing numbers of tourists. They’re going home to tell their family and friends “they’ve been to Australia” in great detail, just like the visitors who have criss-crossed the country by plane.
